10 Things I'll Miss About Nac

Image
Since the countdown to graduation has already begun,  I thought it would be fitting to post about the things  I'll miss about Nac. 1.) Drive-thru Subways... they really do exist 2.) Einstein Bros Bagels... The only one near Humble is in the Bush  Intercontinental Airport...boo! 3.) Banita Creek Hall I'll never forget the bands I've seen there Josh Abbott, Eli Young, Curtis Grimes 4.) Flamingo Bingo... the name pretty much sums it up. If you are imagining pink paint and older people with trolls for luck, you are so right! :) 5.) Pina Coladas from La Carreta... any place that can mask the taste of alcohol is amazing 6.) Dollar movies in the Student Center 7.) The fact that everything is a five minute drive away. 8.) How cute SFA looks at all times of the year... especially during Christmas 9.) Thinking...thinking... I'll get back to you on that one!  10.) Last but not least...  the friends I've made. :)

29 More Days Until...

I graduate! Invitations have been made/sent. Cap and gown have been picked up. Graduation dress has been purchased. (Shhh...it's a secret!) To Do List Decide on shoes for graduation...comfort vs. cute Figure out my future plans On a daily basis, I'm asked, "What are you doing after graduation?" This question is one of the most difficult questions ever because I really don't know. I've turned down some pretty amazing opportunities just recently because they weren't the so-called "perfect fit." As a new graduate, I'm smart enough to know I shouldn't seek perfection, but I'm definitely not going to settle. Until then, I'm fairly certain that I'm going to move back to the Houston area, work toward my teacher certification in dance and journalism, write freelance and possibly try to find a dance teaching position at a studio. Well I guess I have more figured out than I thought...ha! Pass Kinesiology 417...hardest class ever!...

10 Things That Happened This Week 1.) Spring classes started back up... 8 a.m. class (crazy), 20 semester hours (crazier), graduation in 16 weeks (craziest) 2.) I made it through Paranormal Activity 3. This was a huge feat for me since I didn't even make it through the previews just two months ago. (Funny story!) 3.) I also watched Footloose at the SAA Cinema. You can't beat $1 movie admissions and $.75 popcorn! I really enjoyed the movie and will most likely buy it when it hits the $5 bin at Walmart. 4.) My feature story about The Pinto Pony Cookie Factory ran in The Daily Sentinel. There's no bigger high than seeing your name in print. :) 5.) Discovered just how awesome Kelly Clarkson's newest album is! I highly recommend everyone check it out. It's extremely uplifting and empowering.  6.) Met up with one of my long lost friends from high school.  7.) Witnessed my first Model UN General Assembly (thanks to said friend ...

I chose to quote Eminem for the title of this blog post for two reasons... 1.) I'm a huge fan of his music. I have an Eminem playlist on my phone, and I can almost rap every song of his perfectly. :-0 2.) It was the best quote I could find!  Monday = Road trip back to Nacogdoches.  Wednesday = Beginning of my last semester at SFA.  As for today, my mom and I made a trip out to Conroe to visit  Silks 'N' Twigs . It was definitely worth the hour drive...especially if you take the scenic back roads like we did! :) They had it all... jewelry, purses, clothes, home decor, you name it! Plus, their Christmas items were all 50-75% off! Long story short, I discovered my new addiction while I was there... Danielson Designs . They make the cutest wall decor ever. I'll definitely be buying these when I'm not so tight on money. Oh yeah, I also won two tickets to see Chris Young at the Houston Rodeo on March 10th. I'm so stoked about it! Let...

Another week has come and gone... This week I realized that eavesdropping is my favorite hobby of all time. There is no other pastime quite as fulfilling. You never know the shockingly hilarious things people will say when they think no one else is listening. I'm not a fan of so-called "useless" criticism. I feel like there comes a point when criticism crosses the line and is no longer beneficial to the individual. It ends up doing more damage than good. For instance, I was told my music for my senior piece overpowered my dancers this past Wednesday. It's about two weeks from the show...the last thing I can do at this point is change my music. Instead of working on cleaning my dance, I spent hours upon hours searching for alternative music options. In the end, nothing came close to my original music selection, and I wasted hours upon hours of my precious time. I guess I'll just have to agree to disagree with my professors on this one. I only have 5 more pa...

Highlights of my week: I got my column published in The Pine Log. This alone made me so giddy. I couldn't help but get a high any time I saw people around campus reading it. Since I know you are all anxious to see my column, I attached the link. Please know I'm not responsible for the typos. Meal Plan Rantings   I got a ton of ad sales for the Stone Fort Yearbook. I really think the mass e-mail I sent out to the faculty advisers worked, and if it didn't, I'd still like to think it did. :) My senior choreographic project is roughly half done. Choreographing is such a grueling, draining process. It is so hard to know what the professors are looking for in terms of movement, but I feel I'm constantly gaining ground.  I finally filed for my tentative degree plan. This degree plan is supposed to be filed after 45 credit hours, but I filed after 90 hours. Yep, I procrastinated once again. We had a guest speaker from The Daily Sentinel come into my Feature Writin...

About Me... 1.) I procrastinate like crazy. I guess this is the reason I was still awake at 4 a.m. writing my "10 Life-Changing Courses at SFA" article this past Wednesday. 2.) While I may procrastinate, I'm still a perfectionist. Again, this is why I was up until 4 a.m. this past Wednesday. 3.) I can't multi-task. This is why I didn't hear what the word count was supposed to be on the article I wrote on Wednesday. To be safe, I wrote 938 words when I only I had to write 700. If only I would've listened to directions, I could've probably saved myself an hour of work. 4.) I'm very indecisive. This is why I failed to turn in a yearbook spread this week. I couldn't make up my mind on what was worthy of a feature. 5.) I suck at saving money. I tried the whole PB&J diet for a week. I'm so over it! I think I've eaten out every day since. 6.) I like mayonnaise on my hot dog. Get over it! 7.) I love the Rioult Dance Company! I took a mas...

Hi!

Wow! I can't believe I'm actually blogging. The thought of creating a blog has crossed my mind hundreds of times, but I always put it off for one reason or another. With that said, I have no clue where to begin. I feel like I must kick off my first blog entry with some grandiose statement that is history book worthy, but my think tank is running on empty. I guess I'll just begin with a little about myself...how original. To begin with, my name is Gina. I'm a senior at Stephen F. Austin State University. Yep, I go to a univeristy that has a doctorate program in forestry. Yep, it's a tiny university located in an even tinier city, but I love it. Go Lumberjacks! I'm pursuing a double major in dance and journalism. I know you won't be seeing these majors in the "10 Most-Lucrative Degrees" article any time soon, but I don't care. I followed my heart, and I'm sure it won't steer me wrong. Growing up, I was the shy kid who always had somet...
