29 More Days Until...

I graduate! Invitations have been made/sent. Cap and gown have been picked up. Graduation dress has been purchased. (Shhh...it's a secret!) To Do List Decide on shoes for graduation...comfort vs. cute Figure out my future plans On a daily basis, I'm asked, "What are you doing after graduation?" This question is one of the most difficult questions ever because I really don't know. I've turned down some pretty amazing opportunities just recently because they weren't the so-called "perfect fit." As a new graduate, I'm smart enough to know I shouldn't seek perfection, but I'm definitely not going to settle. Until then, I'm fairly certain that I'm going to move back to the Houston area, work toward my teacher certification in dance and journalism, write freelance and possibly try to find a dance teaching position at a studio. Well I guess I have more figured out than I thought...ha! Pass Kinesiology 417...hardest class ever!...

Last week was... Extremely difficult.  I lost both my grandma on my dad's side as well as one of my favorite dogs. Since I don't see both on a daily or even yearly basis, I find this hard to believe. I just don't think it has hit me yet, and, to be honest, it might never hit me the way it should. I guess it's just another one of my weird ways of coping. All I can be certain of is that both are in a better place now. Rest in peace Grandma Butler and Angel!  "Until one has loved an animal, a part of one's soul remains unawakened."~Anatole France Yet again, difficult. I bombed my first two tests this semester. Kinesiology is just not my subject... I don't want to know and don't need to know about basketball or baseball. Rewarding. I finally finished all of my yearbook spreads. I worked months on that book,  and it just feels good to know I completed a project that  will  be  a part of SFA's histo...

WINDING DOWN... Two weeks left of class this semester! 2.8 months left until ACDFA! 5.5 months left until graduation! DANCE! I survived the SFA Repertory Dance Company/Danceworks Concert. The weekly 2 hour rehearsals for my senior piece and 6 hour rehearsals for company paid off. The concert sold out all three nights...something that's never happened before! Also, I travelled to Dallas for the TAHPERD convention. It was a great experience. We performed in front of a panel of three adjudicators, one from TCU, one from UNT and one from Ryan ISD. Overall, they seemed to really enjoy our performance. In particular, I'll never forget this trip because of the amazing room at the Sheraton, the profusely sweating guy that cut in line at the Sheraton, the commentary made by both SFA professors after the profusely sweating guy cut in line, the awesome Houston ISD volleyball coach that was behind us in said line, the Draft Sports Bar, the map of Dallas that fail...

Two weeks... There is only two weeks until the SFA Repertory Dance Company concert! YAHOO! Performances will be on Nov. 17 and 18 at 7:30 p.m. and Nov. 19 at 3 p.m.  I can't believe all of this hard work is about to pay off. More importantly, I can't wait to see my senior choreographic piece come to life on stage. It has been one roller coaster of a semester, but in the end, I think it will all be worth it. Final Graduation Audit... I filed for my final graduation audit today. It's kind of bitter sweet not knowing, yet again, where life will take me once I graduate. I put this decision off for a year, so I guess it's time to finally put my big girl pants on and either get a job or go to grad school or possibly do both! Also, next week I'm getting advised for my final semester. I'm definitely looking forward to my class schedule...5 dance classes, 1 kinesiology class and 1 journalism class. Yep, I'm doing 20 semester hours this upcoming spri...
