"Life begins at the end of your comfort zone."

I'm busy.   It took me being on campus 11 hours straight last Tuesday for me to realize this.  I'm a lousy dresser. I realized this when I ran out of clean sweatpants to wear to class. While I have 5 or 6 pairs of jeans, I still refused to put them on. I ended up doing the unheard of " dirty laundry diving " just to avoid wearing jeans. I'm a fan of all things Texas Monthly. Where else can you read all things Texas. If you're a real Texan, you read this magazine. It's relevant to every Texan, young or old. Subscribe! I'm a lover of good advertising. Maybe, it's because I'm a journalism major. Who knows? In particular, I found two great advertisements in my February 2012 issue of Texas Monthly. (How nerdy am I?) Exhibit A This one included an actual card that read, "Will you be my Valentine?"  Once you opened the card it read... How cute is that?! The ad then proceeded to list the numerous attractions uni...

10 Things That Happened This Week 1.) Spring classes started back up... 8 a.m. class (crazy), 20 semester hours (crazier), graduation in 16 weeks (craziest) 2.) I made it through Paranormal Activity 3. This was a huge feat for me since I didn't even make it through the previews just two months ago. (Funny story!) 3.) I also watched Footloose at the SAA Cinema. You can't beat $1 movie admissions and $.75 popcorn! I really enjoyed the movie and will most likely buy it when it hits the $5 bin at Walmart. 4.) My feature story about The Pinto Pony Cookie Factory ran in The Daily Sentinel. There's no bigger high than seeing your name in print. :) 5.) Discovered just how awesome Kelly Clarkson's newest album is! I highly recommend everyone check it out. It's extremely uplifting and empowering.  6.) Met up with one of my long lost friends from high school.  7.) Witnessed my first Model UN General Assembly (thanks to said friend ...

I chose to quote Eminem for the title of this blog post for two reasons... 1.) I'm a huge fan of his music. I have an Eminem playlist on my phone, and I can almost rap every song of his perfectly. :-0 2.) It was the best quote I could find!  Monday = Road trip back to Nacogdoches.  Wednesday = Beginning of my last semester at SFA.  As for today, my mom and I made a trip out to Conroe to visit  Silks 'N' Twigs . It was definitely worth the hour drive...especially if you take the scenic back roads like we did! :) They had it all... jewelry, purses, clothes, home decor, you name it! Plus, their Christmas items were all 50-75% off! Long story short, I discovered my new addiction while I was there... Danielson Designs . They make the cutest wall decor ever. I'll definitely be buying these when I'm not so tight on money. Oh yeah, I also won two tickets to see Chris Young at the Houston Rodeo on March 10th. I'm so stoked about it! Let...

2012 Resolutions 1. Save money! This will be tricky since I enjoy my dinners out at Chili's a little too much. With that said, I'm going to try to stick to a budget of $100 a week for food and other necessities. I guess I can start tracking my expenditures on future blogs to keep me from straying. 2. Eat healthier/get toner! OK, this is just wishful thinking on my part since I absolutely hate practically every vegetable and fruit out there. While I may not be able to live up to the "eat healthier" part, I should be able to exercise more with my awesome new purple weights I got for Christmas. 3. Get certified! I told myself I would get CPR/AED/First Aid certified last year, but I didn't. The certification classes at SFA are always offered on Saturday, the day of rest for me. With that said, I'm going to force myself out of my comfy bed one Saturday and survive the 7 hour class. 4. Graduate...enough said! 5. Get a job and/or go to grad sc...

Christmas is just hours away! I still can't believe this! With that being said, the entire house is decorated, the stockings are hung, and the desserts are made. Merry Christmas everyone! :) Ornaments!   Chocolate cream pie and pumpkin cheese pie! (Yep, I made both!)

WINDING DOWN... Two weeks left of class this semester! 2.8 months left until ACDFA! 5.5 months left until graduation! DANCE! I survived the SFA Repertory Dance Company/Danceworks Concert. The weekly 2 hour rehearsals for my senior piece and 6 hour rehearsals for company paid off. The concert sold out all three nights...something that's never happened before! Also, I travelled to Dallas for the TAHPERD convention. It was a great experience. We performed in front of a panel of three adjudicators, one from TCU, one from UNT and one from Ryan ISD. Overall, they seemed to really enjoy our performance. In particular, I'll never forget this trip because of the amazing room at the Sheraton, the profusely sweating guy that cut in line at the Sheraton, the commentary made by both SFA professors after the profusely sweating guy cut in line, the awesome Houston ISD volleyball coach that was behind us in said line, the Draft Sports Bar, the map of Dallas that fail...

I made the show!  My dance is officially the third piece in the show this upcoming Thursday, Friday and Saturday. No words can explain how happy I am to say this. It's been one roller coaster of a semester, but my cast stuck with me and never failed to give me 110 percent. I can't thank them enough for this. In addition to my piece, I'll be in three other pieces. :) Photography? I vowed to never pick up a camera again after my ridiculously hard photography class last semester. With that said, however, one of my friends asked me today if I'd be interested in taking their graduation photos. This excited me! I guess my love for photography still exists...it was just on a hiatus for the last several months or so. Final Advising... I was advised today for next semester. It was kind of bitter sweet. I'm happy to have only 19 semester hours standing in my way from graduation, but I'm sad to know I'm leaving so many great friendships behind.  My spring 2...
