Memories For A Lifetime

Image
Since my last post... I've been busier than ever!           Last week , I traveled to Laredo, Texas , for the American College Dance Festival . Before I went to Laredo, I must admit I let it's reputation as a border town get the best of me. With that said, however, Laredo was one of the most amazing cities I've ever visited. The people were extremely welcoming and friendly at all times.             The festival, itself, was held at Texas A&M International University . I still can't believe how great their facilities were. While there, I had the opportunity to take master classes in lyrical jazz, yoga, creative dance for children, modern, rhythmic analysis, relaxation through imagery and injury prevention. Also, I performed in two adjudicated works . The feeling I had performing on that stage was indescribable . I felt like the months of hard work, blood, blisters and tears finally paid off in the end. It was the perfect en...

Last week was... Extremely difficult.  I lost both my grandma on my dad's side as well as one of my favorite dogs. Since I don't see both on a daily or even yearly basis, I find this hard to believe. I just don't think it has hit me yet, and, to be honest, it might never hit me the way it should. I guess it's just another one of my weird ways of coping. All I can be certain of is that both are in a better place now. Rest in peace Grandma Butler and Angel!  "Until one has loved an animal, a part of one's soul remains unawakened."~Anatole France Yet again, difficult. I bombed my first two tests this semester. Kinesiology is just not my subject... I don't want to know and don't need to know about basketball or baseball. Rewarding. I finally finished all of my yearbook spreads. I worked months on that book,  and it just feels good to know I completed a project that  will  be  a part of SFA's histo...

Weekend To Remember!

Image
This past week involved...  Going to Banita Creek to see Curtis Grimes perform :) Being envious of those who know how to country dance. Yep, it's time I learn this stuff!  A midnight run to Taco Bell! Yummy! Auntie Pasta's to celebrate my friend's b-day!  My first Bellini! Contagion movie night with friends (highly recommend) Jamming out to "You Drive Me Crazy" by Britney Spears.  And, last but not least, realizing the importance of knowing how to keep your windows from fogging up while driving. :-/

I'm busy.   It took me being on campus 11 hours straight last Tuesday for me to realize this.  I'm a lousy dresser. I realized this when I ran out of clean sweatpants to wear to class. While I have 5 or 6 pairs of jeans, I still refused to put them on. I ended up doing the unheard of " dirty laundry diving " just to avoid wearing jeans. I'm a fan of all things Texas Monthly. Where else can you read all things Texas. If you're a real Texan, you read this magazine. It's relevant to every Texan, young or old. Subscribe! I'm a lover of good advertising. Maybe, it's because I'm a journalism major. Who knows? In particular, I found two great advertisements in my February 2012 issue of Texas Monthly. (How nerdy am I?) Exhibit A This one included an actual card that read, "Will you be my Valentine?"  Once you opened the card it read... How cute is that?! The ad then proceeded to list the numerous attractions uni...

10 Things That Happened This Week 1.) Spring classes started back up... 8 a.m. class (crazy), 20 semester hours (crazier), graduation in 16 weeks (craziest) 2.) I made it through Paranormal Activity 3. This was a huge feat for me since I didn't even make it through the previews just two months ago. (Funny story!) 3.) I also watched Footloose at the SAA Cinema. You can't beat $1 movie admissions and $.75 popcorn! I really enjoyed the movie and will most likely buy it when it hits the $5 bin at Walmart. 4.) My feature story about The Pinto Pony Cookie Factory ran in The Daily Sentinel. There's no bigger high than seeing your name in print. :) 5.) Discovered just how awesome Kelly Clarkson's newest album is! I highly recommend everyone check it out. It's extremely uplifting and empowering.  6.) Met up with one of my long lost friends from high school.  7.) Witnessed my first Model UN General Assembly (thanks to said friend ...

I chose to quote Eminem for the title of this blog post for two reasons... 1.) I'm a huge fan of his music. I have an Eminem playlist on my phone, and I can almost rap every song of his perfectly. :-0 2.) It was the best quote I could find!  Monday = Road trip back to Nacogdoches.  Wednesday = Beginning of my last semester at SFA.  As for today, my mom and I made a trip out to Conroe to visit  Silks 'N' Twigs . It was definitely worth the hour drive...especially if you take the scenic back roads like we did! :) They had it all... jewelry, purses, clothes, home decor, you name it! Plus, their Christmas items were all 50-75% off! Long story short, I discovered my new addiction while I was there... Danielson Designs . They make the cutest wall decor ever. I'll definitely be buying these when I'm not so tight on money. Oh yeah, I also won two tickets to see Chris Young at the Houston Rodeo on March 10th. I'm so stoked about it! Let...
